The "Don Jon" director allegedly teams up with the "Man of Steel" writer in an effort to turn Neil Gaiman's story to the big screen.
According to reports, the "Looper" star is part of the comic adaptation that "Man of Steel" writer David S Goyer has pitched to Warner Bros.
While it's unclear what role the "Premium Rush" actor contributes to the project, report suggests he may be attached to portray the lead role, Morpheus. Although WB is "very receptive" with the idea presented by Goyer, the feature film is still in a very early stage.
"I'd rather see no 'Sandman' movie made than a bad 'Sandman' movie. But I feel like the time for a 'Sandman' movie is coming soon. We need someone who has the same obsession with the source material as Peter Jackson had with 'Lord of the Rings' or Sam Raimi had with 'Spider-Man'," he said.
Gordon-Levitt was last seen in "Don Jon", which also marked his directing and screenwriting debut. He will next be seen in "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For".
