The privilege motion against the two scribes -- Nikhil Wagle, chief editor of IBN Lokmat, and Raju Khandekar, Chief Editor of ABP Majha -- pertains to the coverage by these two Marathi channels of the recent assault on a police officer in the premises of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly by half a dozen legislators led by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena MLA Ram Kadam.
The Mumbai Press Club, TV Journalists Association and Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh said in a statement here that the two senior journalists were merely doing their duty in reporting the action by a group of MLAs of assaulting a police officer in the Assembly premises for having given a traffic ticket to an MLA Kshitij Thakur.
