Bakshish Elahi, Bureau Chief of K-2 Times Haripur was shot down by the gunmen who came in a bike near his home at Lora Chowk Haripur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
They fled the scene after committing the crime.
The assassins fired five shots on his body including one on his head and four on his chest and belly.
The dead body of the slain journalist was shifted to women and children hospital Haripur for postmortem.
Soon after the incident, journalists of Haripur protested against the murder and blocked the GT road demanding arrest of the killers within a day.
