Judicial Commission set up to probe sacrilege in Punjab

A Judicial Commission headed by Justice (retd) Zora Singh of Punjab and Haryana High Court will probe the incident of alleged sacrilege of sikh holy book Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in Faridkot district of Punjab and its aftermath.
The Commission was set up by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today, his Media Advisor Harcharan Bains said.
The Commission has been mandated to ascertain the causes and circumstances which led to this incident and its subsequent fallout to get into the bottom of the entire case.
It would conduct an inquiry into the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in Faridkot district and inquire into the incident of firing at Kotkapura in Faridkot yesterday, besides looking into the matter of firing at village Behbal district Faridkot, which led to the death of two persons, he said.

Badal vowed that all the culprits involved in the heinous incident of desecration would be brought to book besides ensuring exemplary punishment to them.
He noted that the state government has already constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) with two DIGs as its members to get to the bottom of the case.
He made a fervent appeal to the people "not to fell prey to nefarious designs of fissiparous forces, who are hell bent upon to thwart the peaceful environment in the state this pushing the state back to the turbulent times.
