'Jungle Book' characters come alive on stage

Mowgli, Baloo, Sher Khan and other lovable characters from Rudyard Kipling's famous "Jungle Book" are now entertaining audiences at a musical extravaganza here.
"Jungle Book Jive," a 80-minute musical produced in collaboration with Australian Production Company JBC (Just Because its Children) is set to go on for a week in city till August 11.
"My favourite Jungle Book character is Mowgli. I am glad that I could meet him live on stage," says Radhika, Class IV student who was present for the show's premiere last evening.
The characters of the book have been played out by the cast of JBC.
The musical gala even highlighted the classic rivalry between Mowgli, a feral child and the chief protagonist of Kipling's book with Sherkhan, the tiger as also the strong camaraderie between him and Baloo, the bear.
The show included peppy music, colourful costumes amidst a grand stage settings.
"We tried to make a child's dream come true by bringing to them their favourite characters. We have tried to make the stage show interactive as well with the audience," said Harshad Jain, one of the event's organiser.
The same company had previously, brought Noddy, a character famous in children Literature produced by a London based production house. So also, Ben10, a superhero character famous among children wold over was also brought to Indian audience in a similar musical extravagance.
"Jungle Book is something with which we all can relate to. It is universal and it crosses all ages," said Puja Sharma of organiser Fever Entertainment, adding that India never had a musical gala on "Jungle Book".
"We are very excited to bring in Jungle Book Jive shows to India. We have already had a very enthusiastic response from our audiences for our previous shows Ben 10 and Noddy in Toyland and we believe that this will surpass all" said Jain.
"The cast and crew along with the production team have really been working hard to bring these wonderful elaborate shows to Delhi audience and we are really hoping to leave the capital mesmerised," she said.
