According to an Anti-Corruption Bureau statement, junior clerk Subhash Vithal Bharti, posted at Tehsildar office in Sangamner town of Ahmednagar district was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 16,000 on behalf of Nayab Tehsildar Sheetal Rajdar Savale.
Bharti was nabbed, following a complaint by a sand supplier, whose sand-ladden tractor was caught by Savale and the junior clerk last month, it said.
According to the complaint, Savale and Bharti had demanded bribe from the complainant for not registering a case against him, following which the sand supplier lodged a complaint with the ACB office, which laid a trap today.
