The event, to be held at Railway Institute, will see participation from nearly 400 karate players from over a dozen districts of the state, organisers said today.

The tournament has been organised by the city-based Budokhan Karate Association.

Cinestar Suman, who unveiled the overall trophy of the championship at a function here, said the martial art is being popularised very well in Andhra Pradesh, especially in Visakhapatnam.

Karate helps in maintaining good health and enables women to defend themselves, he said.
