KC(M) nominee in the district panchayat Sebastian Kulathumkal won the post of Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Development with the support of CPI(M) members in the voting.
He defeated Congress nominee Lisamma Baby.
Congress slammed the fresh hobnobbing between CPI(M) and KC(M), a former constituent in the opposition UDF, that evolved weeks after the ruling party supported a nominee of Kerala Congress (M) to help the party headed by Mani to wrest the Kottayam District Panchayat president post from the Congress.
He alleged that Mani was playing the "game of hide and seek" with regard to his party's association with the CPI(M).
