Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's blood sugar levels were still on the higher side but he was responding well to the nature cure regimen for his ailments, a senior doctor treating him at the naturopathy institute here said today.
"We conducted a blood test on Kejriwal, and the sugar levels in his blood are on the higher side," Dr Babina Nandakumar, Chief Medical Officer at Jindal Nature Cure Institute on city outskirts, told PTI.
The 46-year-old Aam Aadmi Party leader was admitted to the Institute for a 10-day nature cure treatment of his persistent chronic cough problem and uncontrolled sugar level on Thursday last.
For the first time tomorrow, Kejriwal will undergo colon hydrotherapy, which will remove non-specific toxins from the colon and intestinal tract, Nandakumar said.
"Colon hydrotherapy is a treatment which is used to wash out the contents of the large bowel by means of copious enemas using water or other medication," she said.
Nanadakumar said Kejriwal will undergo this therapy three-sessions of 40 minutes, every alternate day.
Asked if there has been any signs of his cough receding, she said it will take at least a month for it to recede, but Kejriwal is responding very well to the nature cure regimen.
"It will take at least 21 to 30 days for the cough and sugar levels to recede, but Kejriwal is responding very well to the nature cure regimen," she said. All other treatments including castor oil massage and abdomen pack are going on as planned, she said.
Kejriwal is staying in an accommodation with two bedrooms, a hall and a treatment room, called "Nest" at the Institute, a specialty charitable naturopathy and yoga hospital in an eco-friendly campus of 100 acres.
A set of four senior doctors, including an acupuncturist, physiotherapist and a yoga officer, are taking care of Kejriwal, she added.
AAP chief's parents also are undergoing naturopathy treatment, she said. "The father is suffering from constipation and the mother from diabetes and arthritis," she said.
The AAP leader has come to Bengaluru amidst internal turbulence in the party and its after effects following the party's National Executive meeting in New Delhi that eased out founder members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan from the Political Affairs Committee, the party's key decision-making body.
