The state cabinet, which met here today, decided to recommend to the Governor, Justice P Sathasivam to promulgate an ordinance in this regard.
As per the amendment, the senate will have representations of students, teachers and employees, a government press release said.
Of the six student representatives in the senate, one would be set apart for a female candidate and another for SC/ST student.
When the ordinance becomes a law, like in other universities, students will have representation in the Board of Studies, Finance and Planning committees.
The university, which came into existence on May 21, 2014, was set up to give thrust for the development of indigenous technologies by encouraging research and other academic activists in the related areas.
