Describing as "brutal" the killing of the guard Chandrabose, the Chief Minister said the accused was brought before the rule of law and a punishment as stipulated in the law was awarded to him.
"I am sure the entire society is grateful," Chandy said here reacting to the Thrissur FirstAdditional District and Sessions court verdict awarding 39 year jail term for Nissam in the murder case. The court has also slapped a fine of Rs 80.30 lakh on him.
Reacting to CBI's decision to name CPI(M) Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan as an accused in an RSS worker's murder case, Chandy said it was high time political parties give up the path of violence.
"People of Kerala are peace-loving people. All should cooperate to establish permanent peace in the society," the Chief Minister said after CBI probing the case named Jayarajan as an accused in the Kathiroor Manoj murder case.
