Kerala govt takes steps to implement 'e-office'

To bring in more administrative effectiveness and transparency, the Kerala government today announced that it would go ahead with the implementation of 'e-office'.
"The government is going ahead with the implementation of 'e-office' to bring in more administrative effectiveness and transparency," Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said in his inaugural address at the two-day 17th National Conference on e-governance, which got underway here.
The 'e-office' would be introduced on a pilot basis in the Finance Department of the Secretariat and would be implemented in all other sections and later across the state, he said.
Chandy said his government was committed to ensuring that benefits of various strategic initiatives designed by the central and state governments like RTI Act, Direct beneficiary transfer of scholarships and subsidies to the common man, MGNREGA and Right to Service Act percolates down to the right beneficiaries on time in a hassle-free manner.

Over 500 services are being provided under 'e-district' to the public without the need to even visit Akshaya centres, he said.
The Chief Minister said politicians cannot shy away from using e-governance system and pointed out that he himself had benefited by addressing issues of the common man through e-governance programmes like 'Sutharya Kerala', an interactive video conferencing programme aimed at speedy disposal of grievances.
In his address, IT and Industries minister P K Kunhalikutty said the government is committed to providing the right opportunities to the youth to showcase their talent.
He said Technopark became the largest IT park in the country with the inauguration of Phase III of the project and added that efforts had been made to attract investment in the state related to IT.
