French auto maker Renault today said Sumit Sawhney will be Country CEO and Managing Director for the Renault Group's operations in India.
He will take over from Marc Nassif, who moves to a global assignment within the group. The appointment is effective from February 1, the company said in a statement.
Sawhney will be responsible for managing entire operation for Renault in India and report to Gilles Normand - Chairman, Asia Pacific Region for Renault.
Normand said: "Sumit is taking over India operations with his rich experience and in-depth understanding of the Indian automotive business. He has played a key role in carving a niche for Renault in India and also helped establish the brand amidst strong competition."
He had joined Renault in India as Executive Director in September 2012 from General Motors.
Nassif said: "India journey over the past eight years has been full of challenges and great learning having launched Renault brand and five product portfolio."
Renault sells five models in the Indian market - sedan Fluence, SUV Koleos, compact car, Pulse, SUV Duster and the mid sized sedan, Scala. Renault India also exports the Duster to a growing number of right-hand drive markets.
