The Kerala government will conduct a survey on non-resident Malayalees to extend the benefits and facilities planned for them in the wake of the crisis being faced by expatriates in the Gulf, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said today.
Briefing reporters after a cabinet meeting, Chandy said the comprehensive survey would be conducted jointly by Bureau of Economics and Statistics and the Non-Resident Keralite Affairs (NORKA) Department.
He said the Centre had already begun a nationwide survey on non-resident Indians. The state government was committed to provide all help to expatriates after studying the issue in detail.
Chandy said the Chief Secretary was authorised to submit proposals for improving infrastructure facilities in important cities in the state after consulting with various departments.
