Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said the new apple market set up in Panchkula would be a centre for Chandigarh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh besides Haryana where the farmers and suppliers could directly sell their produce to the consumers.
Interacting with the mediapersons after inaugurating the newly constructed Apple Market at Fruits and Vegetables Market in Sector-20, Panchkula, near here, today, Khattar said the market has been constructed by Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) over an area of 3.3 acres at a cost of Rs 4.3 crore.
He said that this market would prove to be immensely beneficial for the farmers and suppliers of Haryana and adjoining areas of neighboring States as they could bring their produce directly to the market for sale.
On the other hand, the consumers could also get fresh apples, he said.
On being asked to comment on the proposed strike of doctors tomorrow over their various demands pertaining to shortfall of doctors at the state-run health facilities, the Chief Minister said that he did not see any logic behind giving a call for strike as the State Government has accepted all the demands of the doctors including increasing their retirement age upto 65 years and providing them with other facilities.
He said that all the issues of the employees could be resolved through mutual dialogue.
