Shekhar Deb (50) was kidnapped from his residence in Chiragi Market under Ratabari police station on the night of September two by suspected militants of UDLA, floated by rebel Reang tribals, and was released yesterday in the Katlicherra forest.
The kidnapping incident was immediately brought to the notice of Ratabari police station and a joint team of police, CRPF and army launched an operation to rescue him, but it was later slowed down for the sake of his safety.
The security forces along with members of his family established contacts with the abductors and secured Deb's release, police said.
