Kodanadu murder case: One more suspect held

A prime suspect in the Kodanadu estate break-in-cum murder case was today arrested from Thrissur in neighbouring Kerala, police said.
The arrested man, identified as Bijin Kutty, was caught following a tip-off from K V Sayan, one of the suspects taken into custody earlier, police said in Coimbatore.
With this, the number of those arrested in the case has gone up to nine.
Sayan was recently questioned by Nilgiris Superintendent of Police Murali Rambha and following up on information provided by him, a special team of the Kerala police took Kutty into custody from Thrissur early today.
Kutty is an expert in breaking locks and locked doors, police said.

He was taken to the Kothagiri Police station and also the scene of the crime at Kodanadu.

Later, Kutty was taken to the government hospital for medical examination and in the evening produced before Kothagiri Judicial Magistrate Sridhar, who remanded him in judicial custody for 15 days.
The investigating agency had named 11 persons, including Kanagaraj, former driver of Jayalalithaa, as suspects in the incident.
Kanagaraj was killed in a road accident in Salem on April 29, while Sayan was injured in a mishap in Kerala the same day. Sayan's wife and daughter were also killed in the mishap.
Police had already arrested eight people in connection with the case, most of them hailing from Thrissur and Malappuram districts in Kerala.

The Kodanadu estate figures in a disproportionate assets case involving jailed AIADMK general secretary V K Sasikala and former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa, among others.
