"As far as intolerance is concerned, riots have been taking place for long and all of them did not take place in BJP government," Raza Murad said during a meet the press function organized by the Press Club of Jammu.
"Some leaders are making provocative and uncalled for statements that is spoiling the atmosphere and spreading fear among the people and making things difficult", he said.
Murad who was in Jammu to take part in a function organized at the Kashmiri Pandits migrant township of Jagti said that Kashmiri Pandits have been the worst victim of intolerance as they were forced to leave their houses.
"Kashmiri Pandits are the worst victim of intolerance who were forced to leave their houses, I saw their camps and am appalled to see the conditions they are forced to live in", he said.
Murad said that not much has been done for the displaced community, despite lip service by various political parties.
"Nothing has been done for the community so far, they are victim of lip services only. All the promises made to them have remained unfulfilled", he said.
He said that it was the responsibility of the Centre and the state government to take measures for the rehabilitation, safety and security of the community.
"Our constitution guarantees freedom of speech and if anybody has a problem we should listen to him, instead of running after him", he said.
