The actress, who turned 24 last week, finds nothing wrong in keeping the dangerous canine as a pet even though they are native to the wilderness, reported Daily Star.
"Kristen and her mum adore wolves," a source said.
"Jules (Kristen's mother) secured the rescue wolf last month, then brought him along to Kristen's Malibu beach house as a surprise on her birthday. She was delighted, and was soon even sharing cakes with him," the source added.
The pet is likely to remind fans of Kristen's friendship with werewolf Jacob, played by Taylor Lautner throughout the popular 'Twilight' series.
It is claimed that her neighbours are furious at the prospect of keeping a wild animal in the area.
"Jules has always had run-ins with her neighbours over the issue in the past, but Kristen has always longed for one of her own," the source said.
