Karur Vysya Bank), a leading private sector bank, has opened its first rural digital centre in an unbanked rural village in Erode district of Tamil Nadu.
A Cash Recycler Machine has been installed at the centre, recently opened in Kathirampatti, which locals could use to deposit and withdraw money in their preferred time. A passbook printer has also been installed.
The centre is powered with high speed wi-fi connectivity and has a couple of tablets to enable customers perform self service banking and other transactions like train ticket booking, mobile top-ups and so on, a Bank release said here today.
Local merchants have been provided with micro ATMs which will enable them receive payments based on Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS).
KVB has already brought on board about 57 per cent of the local population by opening their accounts and campaigns have also been held to sensitize and educate villagers and merchants on the use of digital services, the release said.
The bank has plans to expand this service in more such villages across India for the benefit of people living in rural areas, the release said.
