Kings XI Punjab have roped in former India all-rounder Sanjay Bangar as their assistant coach for the seventh edition of the Indian Premier League.
Former Railways skipper Bangar has been instrumental in leading his Ranji team to victory at various platforms.
Commenting on his appointment, Bangar said it would be a challenge for him to train the young cricketers for the upcoming season.
"It will be interesting to have a new team this year and a great challenge and opportunity to train some of the young and inspiring cricketers. I am looking forward to working with the team and am sure they will please the fans in season 7 with their exceptional performance," said Bangar.
"It is a pleasure being associated with Kings XI Punjab and I would like to thank them for giving me an opportunity to step in as their assistant coach," he added.
The promoters of Kings XI Punjab said Bangar's coaching stints over the years and his nature to be a true team player makes him a perfect candidate for the job.
"We are pleased to have Sanjay Bangar as the assistant coach of our team for IPL 2014. Given his vast experience as former player and his coaching stints over the years with one other franchise, NCA and India 'A', we are certain that he will add immense value to the team. We wish him all the best for the upcoming IPL Season 7."
Bangar has played 12 Tests and 15 ODIs for India.
