Lab in JNU that can study frequency of climate change

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has come up with a first-of-its-kind laboratory among Indian universities that can study the frequency of climate change through analysis of ecological sediments.
The lab is funded by the Central government's Department of Science and Technology under its Climate Change Programme.
Talking about the project, Milap Chandra Sharma, professorCentre for the Study of Regional Development(CSRD), School of Social Sciencesat JNU said, "This is the first laboratoryof its type under the Indian university system which would not only facilitate dating the sediments specific to landforms evolved under a specific climate phase, but also date any archaeological artefacts of burnt origin for historical reconstructions."

The facility would strengthen the scientific enquiry of the past climate change as a proxy and help in building the manpower for climate related research.
