Lankan Minister briefed on use of tech by Hyderabad Police

A Sri Lankan Deputy Minister today studied the functioning of the Hyderabad police and appreciated their use of technology and IT initiatives.

" Faizal Cassim, the Deputy Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, visited the command control centre of the city police and was briefed on the implementation of several technological initiatives and measures taken for people-friendly policing.

The briefing was also on crime prevention, detection, public order management and traffic management, among others. " The Minister told reporters that he was impressed with the functioning of the police here and appreciated them for using technology and IT-enabled technologies for security of the public.

"The police here have built a good system for the safety of the citizens. We will be discussing about a similar system that could be replicated in Lanka. The Law and Order Minister from Sri Lanka can come here and study the functioning of the police," he said.

He praised initiatives"like the use of body-worn cameras by the traffic police and issuance of challan system for traffic violations.

" "We have explained and shown him (the Lankan Deputy Minister) the tech initiatives which have helped us bring crime down," city Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said.
