A 'bandh' was observed by Left students' unions in the Osmania University here on Friday protesting the illegal arrest of an associate professor for his alleged links with Maoists.
The protest called by Students Federation of India, All India Students Federation and others passed off peacefully and no untoward incidents occurred, university sources said.
The bandh supporters took out a rally and classes were disturbed to some extent in the morning hours, they said.
Telangana police on Saturday last arrested C Kasim, an associate professor working in Telugu Department of the university, for his alleged links with Maoists.
He was arrested following searches at his house and produced before a court which remanded him to judicial custody.
