"Game of Thrones" actress Lena Headey says she is 'ashamed' of the treatment refugees are receiving in her country, United Kingdom.
The 41-year-old actress, who is best known for portraying the role of Cersei Lannister in the HBO TV series, expressed her anger and sorrow on Twitter after sharing a link of an article by The Independent.
The story talked about a four-year-old child, a Greek refugee, who was raped in a migrant camp recently.
"I am truly at a loss. We are leaving insane numbers of displaced people without food. Shelter. Protection. The vulnerable are wide open with no where to go. Children being raped after making journeys to keep them from dying.
"I'm ashamed to be a citizen of a country that doesn't take enough care of its own vulnerable people... I feel utterly at a loss when we turn our backs on those who need it most. To the people who are doing something. To the incredible people of Greece," she writes.
The actress says the current condition of the displaced people is a cause of worry for her.
"It keeps me awake. It keeps me aware and thankful for all that I have. I will continue to talk. To try and change minds. To send money. My brothers and sisters of the world. Please know that you are not forgotten. There are people out here that think about you everyday...," Headey adds.
