His 'Spring Breakers' actor James Franco, who made an appearance on the show, seems to have convinced Letterman that his director has overcome his wild days.
Korine made three appearances on the show but it was during his fourth trip to promote his book 'A Crackup at the Race Riots' that he got the boot.
Franco prodded Letterman about the infamous incident, saying his director had told him that he got banned for pushing Meryl Streep backstage.
Letterman then spilled the beans about what actually happened, the Hollywood Reporter said.
"True story. And so I said, 'That's it, put her things back in her bag and then get out.'"
With Franco's assurances, the host said he would be "more than happy" to have Korine back on the show.
