He urged them to take all the necessary precautions, especially with regard to children.
"May this year's Diwali bring happiness to all our people and may the Festival of Lights illuminate every household and become a source of joy and contentment for all," Jung said in a statement issued by the Lt Governor's office.
He said Diwali symbolises the victory of good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.
Wishing the citizens good health, happiness and prosperity, the LG expressed hope that the festival enlightens the minds and hearts of all, they live in mutual respect and harmony and contribute positively towards the development of society.
