The prosecution case was that the girl hailing from a poor family and studying in a government higher secondary school in Puducherry was waiting at a bus terminal in neighbouring Villianoor on January 1, 2013 when a bus conductor informed her that her mother had met with an accident and had been hospitalised.
The girl accompanied him to see her mother when the other accused, an engineering student, joined them.
The took her to a village in Villupuram, about 40 km from Villianoor, committed the crime and later left her at the bus terminal there in the night.
Principal District and Sessions Judge C V Karthikeyan pronounced the judgement in the case here yesterday sentencing the duo to life imprisonment.
