The son-et-lumiere show will tell tourists of how the mosque was built by Sultan Sikander Shah in 1369 based on the design of the Great 8th Century Mosque of Damascus and also talk about its capture for a brief period by Santhal rebels.
The voice-over for the show has been provided by singer Kabir Suman.
The show will bring alive the ancient history of Malda, Food Processing Minister Krishnendu Narayan Chowdhury said after inaugurating the son-et-lumiere last evening.
District Magistrate Sharad Dwivedi said the tourism department has sanctioned Rs 5 crore for light and sound shows in Adina mosque and Gaur, the capital of ancient Bengal.
Regular son-et-lumiere shows will begin at Adina mosque within a month, Dwivedi said.
