Light rains bring respite from heat in North India

Light rains brought some respite from the scorching heat in North India as the mercury went down by few notches in states including the national capital, Punjab and Haryana.
In Delhi, the maximum temperature was recorded three notches below the season's average at 35.9 degrees while the minimum temperature settled at 27.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, a MeT department official said.
The Safdarjung observatory which is considered the official reading for the city recorded 2.4 mm rainfall while areas under Lodhi road, Palam, Ridge and Ayanagar received 6.2 mm, 2.1 mm, 2.0 mm and 6.0 mm rains respectively.

The humidity levels oscillated between 86 and 44 per cent.
The weatherman has predicted partly cloudy sky with possibility of dust storm and light rains in some areas tomorrow.
Punjab and Haryana were also lashed by light to moderate rains.

Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 36.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.
Ambala recorded a high of 36.4 degrees Celsius while Hisar's maximum settled at 38.7 degrees Celsius, both down by two notches than yesterday's temperature, a MeT official in Chandigarh said.
Bhiwani recorded a high of 35.4 degrees Celsius.
In Punjab, Amritsar's maximum temperature dropped to six notches below normal settling at 32 degrees Celsius.

Ludhiana recorded a high of 35.5 degrees Celsius while Patiala's maximum settled at 36.4 degrees Celsius.
