LPG leak from tanker triggers panic

: An LPG leak from a tanker near a check post on a highway near a village in Salem district today triggered panic for some time among road users and public, police said.
The driver noticed the leak at the check post at Mettupatti village and alerted the personnel there, who informed Indian Oil Corporation officials.
The tanker from the IOC was on its way to Erode from Chennai, police said.
As a precautionary measure, traffic was halted and diverted on the Salem-Chennai highway for nearly two km.
Fire and rescue personnel were continuing efforts to plug the leakage, police said.
