Cong LS candidate richest among nominees in Goa

Ravi Naik has assets worth approximately Rs 8 crore and has liability of Rs 15.63 lakh in the form of loan from financial institutions

Congress' North Goa nominee Ravi Naik has maximum assets while BJP's South Goa candidate Narendra Sawaikar has the least, among major contestants who have filed nominations for Lok Sabha elections in the state.

Both the BJP and Congress candidates filed their nominations from North and South Goa seats yesterday.

As per the information furnished by the candidates to the Election Commission of India through an affidavit while filing the nomination, Ravi Naik (67) has assets worth approximately Rs 8 crore and has liability of Rs 15.63 lakh in the form of loan from financial institutions.

Sawaikar (47), a lawyer by profession, has lowest assets. He has claimed that he has immovable property of Rs 15.80 lakh in his name and Rs 20 lakh in the name of his spouse Meghana. He has no liability in the form of any loan.

BJP's sitting MP and North Goa candidate Shripad Naik has assets worth Rs 6.66 crore, while has liability of Rs 8.33 lakh in terms of dues to public financial institutions and government bodies.

Congress' South Goa nominee Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco (45) has assets worth Rs 1.42 crore and has liability of Rs 9.05 lakh in the form of vehicle loan.

The Lok Sabha elections in both Goa constituencies would be held on April 12.
