Lumax forms JV with Japanese firm for gear shift lever systems

Automobile lighting systems maker Lumax Industries has formed a joint venture with Japan-based Mannoh Industrial Co Ltd to manufacture and sell gear shift lever systems in India.
Its subsidiary, Lumax Auto Technologies has formed a JV with Mannoh Industrial named Lumax Mannoh Allied Technology Ltd.
It would design and manufacture complete gear shift lever systems for manual and automatic transmission in India, said Lumax Industries in a notice to BSE.
The Japanese firm would have 45 per cent stake in the JV, it said further.
The JV would have its operation and R&D center at IMT Manesar. A new manufacturing site for the JV has already been completed and has become functional from March 1.

Mannoh Industrial is a leading producer of gear shifts lever assemblies and had production units at Indonesia, Thailand apart from Japan. Its supplies to leading auto makers as Nissan, Suzuki, Isuzu, Mazda, Toyota and Honda.
