Indian Oil Corporation had offered an assistance of Rs 2 crore to LVPEI as part of its CSR contribution for setting up the 'Indian Oil Centre for Rural Eye Health', a release from the institute said.
The MOU was signed between IOCL and LVPEI, Bhubaneswar in March last year and the Centre was inaugurated today by Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, it said.
Indian Oil-(LVPEI) Center for Rural Eye Health (CREH) located at the LVPEI Bhubaneswar campus is designed to provide solutions to visual impairment in rural Odisha.
The principle of community eye health is to apply the knowledge of eye care to the community to reduce blindness and visual impairment.
Indian Oil CREH will work on the collected data from Secondary centres to create District level Quality Eye Care protocols, organise district school screening program and finally visual impairment surveys in a systematic way.
