Vairamuthu appeared before the division bench, comprising justices R Sudhakar and P N Prakash.
On October 28, the court had issued statutory notice to the lyricist and also issued a notice to the Office of the Advocate General on the petition.
Petitioner Mukanchand Bothra had alleged that Vairamuthu in his speech at a function here on September 12 had "raised doubts about the faith, integrity, purity of judges among the public, especially about judges who are on the verge of retirement."
It also directed the Registry to place the matter before the Chief Justice to take a decision on posting the matter before any other Division Bench.
