The decision in this regard was taken at a high level meeting presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Representatives of the two companies attending the meeting said M2i and Wistron would jointly invest and manufacture electronics consumer items at Infovalley here.
"The two companies have also agreed to enter into a joint venture to set up a EMC," state industries minister Debi Prasad Mishra said.
Wistron, a reputed brand in manufacturing electronics goods, has an annual turnover of about USD 20 billion. It manufactures mobile sets, personal computers, tablet PCs, television sets and other ICT products besides providing post sale services. M2i is a consultant company based in US.
Earlier the state owned Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) had submitted the final detailed project report (DPR) to the Centre on the electronic manufacturing cluster (EMC) proposed at Infovalley.
The state's DPR for the EMC sought Rs 95 crore from the Centre. The proposed EMC cluster, located in Khurda district, was expected to house over 100 electronics manufacturing units with an employment potential of 10,000-12,000.
The estimated investment in the cluster was projected at Rs 979 crore, officials said.
