Special prayers were offered to lord Shiva by the priest of the ancient rock temple in the presence of devotees before its doors were shut for the season, temple committee officials said.
A replica of the shivalinga was taken out of the temple in a colourful palanquin before the closure of its doors, to be carried in the form of a procession to Ukhimath's Omkareshwar temple where it is worshipped during the winter months.
The temple committee is busy preparing for a fair held every year in the precincts of the Omkareshwar temple to celebrate the arrival of the Lord, a mandir samiti official said.
