Congress leader Kamal Nath today alleged that the agriculture sector in Madhya Pradesh is in bad shape and the farmers, who are battling the drought situation across 35 districts of the state, are not getting the right price for their produce.
Congress leader alleged that the 'Bhavantar Bhugtaan Yojna' introduced by the state government has failed in its aim to provide fair prices to the agriculture produce of farmers.
"Under the BJP rule, so many farmers have committed suicide in the state that it has become a sort of world record. It can also be included in the Guinness Book," Kamal Nath told reporters here.
"The farmers and traders are facing problems due to this scheme (Bhavantar Bhugtaan Yojna). But, Shivraj and his government have nothing to do with the problems. Talking aloud and running the government are two different things," the former union minister said.
Kamal Nath also targeted the Narendra Modi government on the issue of complexities and discrepancies in the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
He said, "We wanted to bring in one nation-one tax arrangement in the state. But, Modi government introduced a GST regime, which announces separate rates for a kurta and a pyjama.
"After the implementation of GST, the businessmen are hanging around the tax consultants instead of concentrating on their businesses."
Kamal Nath also questioned the Centre's ambitious "smart city scheme".
He said, "When I was the Minister for Urban Development in the previous government. The file of this scheme was forwarded to me as well. I had asked the officers to define the Smart City.
"I have not yet received the answer. Under the Modi government, the work of thousands of crores has been announced under this scheme.
