Maharashtra Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar told this to reporters here today.
"States like Andhra Pradesh have taken maximum benefit of the Centre's schemes to get maximum possible grants. We have lagged behind these states. In order to rectify this, we have appointed a three-member committee of secretaries from the Finance Department," Mungantiwar said.
The committee will suggest for which of the state departments maximum grants could be sought from the Centre, he said adding that the panel will submit its report in the next few days.
The minister will present the state budget for 2017-18 on 18 March and the ongoing session will conclude on April 7.
