Maharashtra BJP unit has convened a national executive meeting in Kolhapur starting tomorrow, where the party is expected to lay out a roadmap to address issues within the party and the state government.
BJP president Amit Shah is scheduled to address the inaugural session tomorrow while Union Transport and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari will address the valedictory session on Sunday.
"A BJP officers meeting will be held this evening in Kolhapur, followed by the state executive committee meeting tomorrow that will be attended by party MPs, MLAs and district heads," a state party functionary said.
"On Sunday, there will be a plenary session where Raosaheb Danve will be formally endorsed as the party President. Raosaheb will then give his speech as the party President, followed by Chief Minister's (Devendra Fadnavis) address," he said.
The meeting was originally scheduled to be held from May 4-6 but had to be postponed as the Parliament session was in progress and all MPs would not have been able to attend it, the functionary said.
According to a BJP leader, the party executives meet will focus on further image building of the government, especially after decisions like a ban on cow slaughter and the Land Acquisition Act which have of late dented party's image.
"Besides, BJP's one year at the Centre and six months in the state will be the focus of this conclave. We need to convey to the people that the decisions of this government may take some time to reflect, but will definitely show on ground as time passes. Policy changes in the government will also be discussed," the leader added.
