Alleging that the Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra government tried to "rush through" the House proceedings on the last days of the Monsoon Session today, Leader of Opposition in Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said the state was not bothered about helping farmers.
"This government has shown that it is not willing to help farmers, who are reeling under one of the worst agrarian crises in the last few years," Vikhe Patil told reporters at Vidhan Bhawan this evening.
During the elections, BJP had promised to implement reservation for Dhangar community within a month of coming to power, but hasn't done so. It has also ignored the issue of Maratha reservation, he added.
Senior NCP leader Jayant Patil said if elections were to be held, now BJP won't get more than 40 seats in the 288 member Assembly.
Patil flayed Education Minister Vinod Tawde for launching a witch hunt against him for "exposing" his educational qualifications. Patil said the degree of Dnyaneshwar Vidyapeeth where Tawde studied wasn't recognised by the UGC and other bodies.
"After I spoke in the House on Tawde's educational qualifications, the minister asked officials to "dig some dirt" about me," Patil said.
