Fighting a crucial electoral battle ahead of the 2014 general elections, RJD President Lalu Prasad today said the June two Maharajganj by-poll would begin the countdown for end of Nitish Kumar government in Bihar.
"The Maharajganj by-election will bring out peoples anger against the Nitish Kumar government and the mood of the voters (in favour of RJD) in the crucial battle in 2014," Prasad told reporters.
Prasad has been campaigning for RJD nominee Prabhunath Singh for the past five days as the party, which has been lying low after the severe drubbing in the last parliamentary elections and 2010 assembly polls, is banking heavily on outcome of Maharajganj by-poll to stage a comeback in Bihar.
Singh is pitted against JD(U) candidate P K Shahi and Congress' Jitendra Swami in the triangular contest in Maharajganj.
Charging the NDA government of 'misusing' its position to influence voters, he said the people would not be 'fooled' by them.
The NDA government peeved with the people flocking around him and RJD, had filed a false case against Singh at Bhagwan police station of Siwan, he claimed.
LJP is supporting RJD in the Maharajganj by-election and the party president Ramvilas Paswan's Bollywood actor son Chirag has been campaigning in the constituency for Singh.
