It had sold 35,180 units in the same month last year, M&M said in a statement.
In the domestic market, its sales were down 3.10% to 32,122 units last month as against 33,150 units in August last year.

Sales of passenger vehicles, including Scorpio, XUV 500, Xylo, Bolero and Verito, stood at 13,307 units as compared to 13,911 units in August 2014, down 4.34%.
Commercial vehicle sales were up 5.05% to 13,023 units last month against 12,396 units in the year-ago period, M&M said.
"While currently we are witnessing fragmented recovery in auto sales, we are hopeful that the upcoming festive season will provide a much needed fillip to the auto industry. Our export sales have grown with a record high of 73% compared to previous year," M&M Chief Executive (Automotive Division) Pravin Shah said.
