Police last evening arrested the woman, Dorothy, who ran a placement agency in Kotla Mubarakpur area of South Delhi. Dorothy has been booked under the Juvenile Justice Act and will be produced in court later today.
Dorothy allegedly told police that she had provided accused Vandana Dhir with a maid this year, but she ran away in May. When Dhir demanded a refund of Rs 30,000 she had paid for the maid, Dorothy provided the teenager from Jharkhand as a replacement.
The girl was badly injured and rescued by a joint team of NGO Shakti Vahini and the Delhi Police from the ground floor of Dhir's residence on the evening of September 30.
Dhir was arrested on October 1 after the police filed a case under various sections of the IPC and under the provisions of the Bonded Labour Act.
The girl had reportedly told the police that she had been working with Dhir for the past one year without getting any renumeration and used to get beaten up almost every day as her employer was apparently not happy with her work.
Minister of Women and Child Development department Kiran Walia, who had termed the incident as "horrible", had promised the government would bear the medical expenses of the victim.
