14 fire tenders, including three from army, battled the blaze for over two hours but by the time it was doused one transformer was completely damaged at the station which was made operational in 2004, officials said,
There was no loss of life though a fireman suffered burn injuries, a firebrigade officer said, adding he was rushed to the hospital.
The exact cause of fire has not yet known but officials said there could be "some internal fault".
"There were two transformers at this station, of which one was gutted completely whereas we succeeded in saving the other one", said Purohit.
He said that despite this, "we maintained the power supply in the city without any interruption as the transmission of power was shifted to other resources.
