Mamata challenges Modi to send her 500 CBI notices

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to send her '500 CBI notices' and alleged that BJP was trying to stifle Trinamool Congress' voice for protesting against his "anti-people" policies including the Land Acquisition Bill.
Modi's 'Acche din' has brought "devastation to the entire country," she alleged hitting out at the Prime Minister.
"We (TMC) will not accept this anti-people, anti-farmer Land Bill. This is our right. I challenge you Narendra Modi, you can send me 500 notices if you want but you can't stifle my voice," Banerjee told an election rally in central Kolkata for coming civic polls.

"Whoever will speak against Narendra Modi, he will send the person a notice. It is his work. I am not afraid of him. I know how to fight.
"For the last few days, media houses are filing fabricated stories to malign us. They are saying that TMC has got a CBI notice. I will protest against BJP and the prime minister's policies and I will not get CBI notice - can it happen?
Banerjee's comment came a day after TMC submitted documents to CBI, three days after the agency re-sent a notice to the party seeking details of its accounts.

"A party submits its account details to the Election Commission and Income Tax. But what jurisdiction has CBI to send us a notice? You have to understand one thing--that CBI is directly under the PMO.

"I too have worked at the Centre, I know it very well," Banerjee said.
She also alleged that BJP leaders are influencing CBI and steps it will take are leaked to certain media houses.
"They have a covert understanding," she said.
Hitting out at the investigating agency, Banerjee said "we are very generous so we have replied to CBI notice. CBI has already crossed its jurisdiction. Tell me have you (CBI) sent notices to Congress, CPI(M), Samajwadi Party, CPI and BJP?

BJP has spent thousand of crores (of rupees) on its election campaign. Has CBI sent it notices? Who has given it this money? Who took money from Sahara group? Where is the diary of Sahara, whose names were there?" Banerjee said.
