Hitting back at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, BJP today said demonetisation had left her "rattled" as she has realised that all the "ill- gotten" money of her party TMC have become worthless.
"Mamata Banerjee is rattled after losing the ill-gotten money made by TMC under various corrupt means like Saradha scam, border smuggling and syndicate. She has realised that it cannot be recovered and she continues to rant against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historical decision," BJP National Secretary Sidharth Nath Singh said.
Singh is also BJP's co-incharge for West Bengal.
Banerjee has emerged as a most bitter critic of demonetisation and tried to rally opposition parties against it with mixed success.
The TMC supremo today addressing a rally in Kolkata threatened to demonstrate outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence against demonetisation, vowing to dislodge him from the seat of power if the scrapping of high value currency notes is not withdrawn.
"The entire country is suffering. There is no money in banks, ATMS. So far 80 people have died due to the hardships caused by demonetisation. But Narendra Modi is having a sound sleep and giving lectures on taking the country towards cashless economy," she told the rally.
On her asserting that she will not rest till she removes Modi as Prime Minister whether she lives or not, Singh said, "She can decide whether she lives or not but people of this country have made up their mind to elect Modi again in 2019.
