The accused, identified as Kapil Goyal, was in possession of more than 300 fake certificates and marksheets of different universities and colleges that were to be delivered to his contacts, they added.
On March 7, Goyal was arrested near the out gate, ISBT Ring Road on the basis of a tip-off. He had arrived there in a red colour Tata Nexon Car that he had bought with the money he earned by selling fake certificates, the police said.
On further interrogation, he led the team to his office in Janakpuri. Police seized four laptops, more than 300 fake certificates and holograms and bundles of papers which were to be used for this purpose were seized from his office, Alok Kumar, joint commissioner of police (Crime), said.
Goyal appeared in several competitive exams but could not succeed. His brother Happy was involved in preparation of fake certificates and was living a lavish life. He joined his brother's business.
The accused has prepared and supplied close to 5,000 fake certificates and marksheets in the last one year, he added.
The accused was in touch with different coaching centres and agents located across India. They were in touch with each other through mails and WhatsApp.
The coaching centres used to arrange customers for the accused and send the details to the accused. After getting the money transferred in his account, Goyal used to courier them to the agents, he said.
