Man arrested with Rs 5.9 lakh brown sugar in UP

One person has been arrested for allegedly possessing brown sugar worth Rs 5.9 lakh from Khairaghat on Indo-Nepal border area by Sashstra Seema Bal, a senior official said today.
The accused identified as Sunil Kumar Shukla (45) from Barabanki was arrested last night during the routine checking and 59 gram of brown sugar, worth Rs 5.9 lakh was recovered from him, SSB commandant KS Bankhithi said.
The accused was later handed over to the police and was booked under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), he said.
