The man, Sandeep, a resident of Babarpur area, was apparently upset over his relationship with a girl following which he took the extreme step and set himself on fire outside gate number one of Tis Hazari Court around 11 AM, police said.
"When Sandeep reached near Gate Number 1 of Tis Hazari Court, he suddenly poured inflammable liquid on his body and set himself on fire. Seeing this, passersby tried to rescue him and informed the police," a senior police officer said.
"Sandeep has sustained 90 per cent burn injuries on his body and his condition is critical. As per preliminary investigation, he took the step over some girl, but police is yet to establish the exact reason," the officer said.
His family members are also being questioned in this regard and further investigation is on, he added.
